sharing my thoughts, opening up to others and connecting with people has always been a challenge for me.

a few days ago i heard something that resonated so much with me.
so much that I think about it everyday since i heard it.

a little back story - i donโt think iโve ever shared this with you guys, and this makes me feel very vulnerable, but here we go. i suffer from social anxiety and generalized anxiety. have been for as long as i can remember. hopefully sharing this will help other people as much as it did for me, or it will help people understand more about people who suffer from this c:

here are the thoughts :

*People who experience social anxiety tend to view themselves through the eyes of other people (people around them) instead of viewing themselves through their OWN perspective and our own eyes. It makes it hard to know who we are as a person, what we think of certain situations, what we like and donโt like. Weโre seeing our lives through how we think others see us. And through that perceived POV, we suppress our personality. We stop doing the things we love because of possible judgment, embarrassment or shame*

i felt so validated after hearing this, and i think that this new awareness will have such a huge impact on my life. of course i am still working, and will forever be working to combat my anxiety, but hearing this was so powerful for me that i just felt like i had to share with anyone who needed to hear this as well. โก
