Took Mickey paddle boarding yesterday and I’m pleased to report that his down stay once on the board was much easier and he didn’t feel like he was being pressured 😄. I brought treats and simply asked for a sit, then down stay. Off on the water we went. Only one correction for getting out of the down position. He just needs to understand that no matter what is happening he’s not to get out of the down stay position. He got to have his zoomies in the waters edge. He’s not a fan of swimming so we’ll be working building his confidence to swim. He was so relaxed and chill on our way back to the dock that I was able to stand up even on the slightly choppy water of the river. I was extremely pleased with him and his progress!
Classes are a little better each week and we work on training 10-15 min most days at some point. Eventually he’ll get what is proper behavior while out in public which will be fantastic because then I can take him places without him being a nuisance! Eventually I’d like to get him trained off leash with reliability! All in due time😁
