On reddit, some "subreddits" which are like... topic specific communities... In order to post there, as a user I send these photos to the moderators of the subreddit/community. So they know I am a real person. This helps keep the community in line so you get real people posting and not just a bunch of spam or whatever. It also filters out a bit i think for people who can follow instructions / are motivated enough to send verification pics, if that makes sense. Anyways, enjoy
