They're velvet and have a very deep timber to them. It helps ground the music without it losing it's edge or impact. Orville Peck - Drive Me Crazy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEKy0ZtpxIQ This isn't his strongest song but the visuals of this particular performance - a tassel-masked sparkly cowpoke sashaying through a carousel in rotation - are a good introduction to what Orville is all about ; being the gay Americana cowboy Elvis didn't know he was trying to be. Orville is a "mystery" but all fingers point to him being an ex-drummer for a punk band that found some solid success and I just love that this is where he's ended up. "Hope to Die" is another song of his and is my favorite. Michaela is a wonderful human and creates reflective music that puts you squarely in a place of feeling vulnerability from the most commonplace occurrences...with a very slick techno-pop casing.
