A few days late but here is this weeks spotlight... So this awesome guy has a complicated background. He came to the sanctuary after his owner died and he was left outside to fend for himself for a few months. Someone brought him in after catching him and it was discovered he had feline HIV probably from a fight after he was left outside (Feline HIV is transmitted through bites) the person who brought him in didn’t want him after learning this so he became a resident. Instead of euthanasia he had his teeth removed so he can’t transmit the virus to the other cats in the sanctuary. He has to get very expensive medication 3x a week to help with the HIV and is more prone to other infections. When we first started volunteering he developed a nasty and deadly infection of his mouth and throat. He was critical for about a week but he is a true fighter and refused to give up. He lives his treats and gets his chicken shredded extra fine so he can eat it.... He has taken a liking to Steph and loves when she visits him.
